Falcons defensive end Osi Umenyiora will be inducted into the Troy University Sports Hall of Fame in March, the school announced Tuesday.
Umenyiora will be one of eight to get the honor this spring, including: Danny Cox (baseball), Mike Griffin (men’s golf), Perry Griggs (football), Ted Horstead (football), Anthony Reed (men’s basketball), Rick Rhoades (football), and Paul Word (men’s basketball).
While at Troy, Umenyiora finished second in the country with 15 sacks during his senior season, a total which ranks tied for fifth best in a season in Troy history. He recorded 20.5 tackles for loss during that year, which was a school season record until fellow Falcons defensive end Jonathan Massaquoi bested him with 21.5 in 2010.
Umenyiora is second in tackles for loss during a career in school history to only DeMarcus Ware, who is currently with the Dallas Cowboys.
