For Roddy White, December has become as close to a sure thing as you’ll find. Historically, White has been good in December and he’s proving once again this season that December is the month for White to get red hot.
When December began, White had 142 catches for 1,600 yards and 13 touchdowns in the final month of the season, dating back to 2008. In those games, he’s averaged seven catches for 80 yards and almost one touchdown per game and 2013′s December has been no different.
Last week, his fourth game in December, White set a season high with 12 passes and 141 yards. He also added a touchdown and the Monday night contest was his 11th career game with 10 catches or more. After injuries slowed him earlier this season, White is healthy and is playing like it. In the last four games, all in December, White is tied for the NFL lead in receptions (35) and ranks fourth in receiving yards (411).
White’s touchdown against the 49ers was the 54th of his career. He currently sits in third place in Falcons franchise history in touchdown catches behind Terance Mathis (57) and Andre Rison (56).
