Quarterback Matt Ryan said he saw Julio Jones on Wednesday morning and told the media Wednesday afternoon that the injured wideout was keeping a strong face amid reports that he could be out for potentially the rest of the season.
Head coach Mike Smith announced Tuesday that Jones suffered a foot injury in Monday’s loss to the Jets and that initial reports were not encouraging. Jones is getting a second opinion on his injury at a foot specialist in Charlotte on Wednesday afternoon.
“In those situations, we’ve all kind of been there before — it’s part of playing in this league. It’s a tough physical game,” Ryan said of injuries Wednesday. “He’s got a great mindset about it, though. He really does. He’s positive, he’s upbeat and we’ll see what happens.”
Head coach Mike Smith said after Wednesday’s practice that he would provide a report as soon as the team knows more about Jones’ condition and prognosis for the season.
